Site Survey

Site Survey

Professional site survey for Wi-Fi and network. UTPinfra analyzes your location with precise measurements and delivers clear recommendations for optimal coverage, capacity and network reliability.

Site Survey for optimal coverage and network reliability

A powerful and stable network starts with insight. UTPinfra performs professional Site Surveys to technically analyze your location — including Wi-Fi coverage, cabling, interference and network structure. This allows us to determine exactly where access points and network equipment should be placed for maximum performance, capacity and reliability.

What we offer

  • Predictive Site Survey — Digital simulation based on floor plans, building materials and RF models. Ideal for new construction and situations where no network is yet active.
  • On-site Active Survey — Measurements on location with professional equipment (dBm measurements, interference analysis, channel load).
  • Wi-Fi Heatmaps — Visual representation of coverage, signal strength and capacity per room or zone.
  • Interference Analysis — Identification of interference sources, neighboring networks, RF noise and obstacles that affect performance.
  • Network & Cabling Inspection — Review of patch cabinets, cabling, VLAN structure and physical infrastructure.
  • Professional Report — Clear recommendations, risk analysis, channel planning, placement advice and optionally a complete design.

When to have a Site Survey performed

  • New construction or renovations — to create a reliable network design in advance based on building materials and layout.
  • Expansion or replacement of your Wi-Fi network — to ensure new equipment is optimally placed.
  • Complaints about range, speed or stability — for outages, dead zones, low dBm values or interference issues.
  • High network load — when many users, devices or IoT systems slow down the network.
  • Security and camera applications — to ensure coverage and bandwidth are sufficient for critical systems.
  • Point-to-point microwave links or connections between locations — to analyze sight lines, signal strength and obstacles.

Frequently asked questions about site survey

How long does a Site Survey take?
Duration depends on the size and complexity of the location. For offices and hospitality venues, this is typically 1–3 hours. Larger warehouses, outdoor areas or multi-site environments may take longer due to additional measurements, interference analysis and cabling inspections.
Does the network need to be active during the survey?
Yes. For reliable measurements, we analyze the network in a realistic situation: active access points, present users and existing interference. For new construction or empty buildings, we perform a predictive survey based on architectural drawings and RF models.
Can you also prepare a quote directly based on the survey?
Yes. The report contains all technical data needed for an accurate quote: required equipment, placement recommendations, channel planning, cabling and any improvement points. This prevents surprises in costs or performance.
Do you also provide Wi-Fi heatmaps?
Yes. We deliver both predictive heatmaps (based on drawings) and on-site heatmaps (based on actual measurements). These provide insight into coverage, signal strength, capacity and potential bottlenecks.
Do you also perform cabling and patch cabinet inspections?
Yes. During the survey, we check the physical infrastructure, such as cabling, patch cabinets, VLAN configuration and switch setup. This is essential for fully assessing network issues.
Is a Site Survey mandatory before you install a network?
For professional environments (hospitality, offices, warehouses, healthcare, retail) this is strongly recommended. Without a survey, there is no guarantee of optimal coverage, stability or capacity and the risk of outages increases.
Can you include multiple locations in one project?
Yes. For organizations with multiple sites, we can combine surveys in one project, including centralized reporting and uniform network recommendations.
How quickly can you perform a survey?
In most cases within 3–5 working days. Rush requests are possible upon consultation, depending on location and engineer availability.
