Case study: new DC construction in Zevenaar

Fulfilment Achterhoek opened a new warehouse of over 30,000 m². UTPinfra was commissioned to design and deliver the complete network and security infrastructure. The scope: a reliable network, complete Wi-Fi coverage, camera surveillance of all entrances/exits and the outdoor area, and integrated access control. In total, more than 200 active components were implemented at one location.

Project overview

• Assignment: End-to-end delivery of network and security (design → delivery).
• Location: New DC construction, Zevenaar >30,000 m².
• Scale: >200 active components; >300 cabled endpoints.
• Objective: 100% coverage, high reliability, easy manageability and scalability.

Technical highlights

• Cabling: Complete CAT6A cabling with more than 300 endpoints; cable trays across multiple IDFs; fiber optic connection to server room.
• Wi-Fi: Extensive site survey followed by implementation of a uniform UniFi network; strategic placement of access points for optimal coverage, including between 10m high shelving; seamless roaming for handheld scanners and mobile devices.
• CCTV security: UniFi Protect for all entrances/exits, loading/unloading docks and outdoor area; night vision and motion detection; feeds centrally monitored in a control tower on 6 screens.
• Access control: Implementation of Ubiquiti Access, integrated with the network and prepared for linking with other locations.
